Anthropologie envy

I was in London earlier this month, enjoying the lights of Oxford Street and braving the tube alone and whilst on my little trip I 'happened' to wander into Anthropologie in Selfridges. Well, I may have made a bee line for it in fact. There is such loveliness to be had and I must share a couple of my wants with you, not that I except to get any in my stocking this Christmas! No matter how many post it notes I stick to the OH's laptop/shaving mirror/shoes!

First on my list are these arctic bear measuring cups! Well, there's an excuse to bake everyday if ever I saw one!

Second is this Lou Rota plate, nearly nice enough to not cover with cake. Nearly...

Vintage map gift tag kit!

I realise that I have neglected my blog this month, I really could do with a time pausing device. There are just not enough hours in the day! Fortunately I did have enough time to source a map book which was published in the 1960's. I have been using the maps to make the envelopes for my new range of gift tag kits. The kit comes with the envelopes, par avion style gift tags and twine to keep the envelope closed. I really love this kit, and I love developing a product and actually finishing it!! It takes so long to develop a product that I rarely have time for anything else! I hope you like it as much as I do! It's my new favourite! X

Put it in a letter

Or in a letter style gift tag! Here are some of the designs I'm working on as part of a travel inspired collection.
I'm trying to develop something where the (fake) stamps and gift tags can be mixed and matched to create something more personal.

Feeling grey.

I am finally getting close the being able to paint the walls of the dining room after all the necessary work has been done. Unfortunately that has meant new electrics and floor joists! But once the work is done at least it shouldn't need to be done again in a long time now. Grey is the theme of the dining room, it is in here that I have the duck egg blue dresser and the Paris grey table. I am very inspired by the following images which were found on http://www.planete-deco.fr/2012/10/11/un-appartement-a-brooklyn-so-french-style/. I love the contrast of white and grey with the feminine touch of powder pink!

Oui Oui!

I was spending my Saturday morning perusing blogs as I like to do for inspiration and enjoyment when I came across Sweet Tea and Pumps blog- http://sweetteaandpumps.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/paris-market.html
where she shared pictures of a shop she loves called Paris Market. I am in love! I would die to own that shop, well, perhaps not die but I am trying to be passionately French about it! If one day I own a shop it will look something similar to this.

Inspired by Emily Henderson

I have taken the following images from http://stylebyemilyhenderson.com/ as I love the use of cool fresh colours that are married with luxe gold tones. Although the style is pretty it is still grown up. I just wish I had more rooms to decorate as I am so inspired by what Emily Henderson has done here. I suggest you visit her website right now for more goodies for the eyes!

Happy Bunting!

Here is some personalised bunting I created today! I was lucky enough to enjoy a day out in Birmingham on Saturday and stocked up on some new stamps and washi tape from Selfridges which inspired me to create! Unfortunately I couldn't take home the £35,000 85inch TV that I so loved but here's hoping for a lottery win! I ate at Jamie Oliver's restaurant Jamie's Italian which was a lovely treat. I recommend the pork chop if you ever get to visit! Anyway...enough about me, here's the bunting!

Clay creatives

I have been busying my little hands with clay this week. This is a gift tag with a view of the front and back.  I would love to receive a gift with a tag that doubles as a keepsake so I hope my family and friends do too! This present really did go to grandma and she did appreciate it!

New frames!

I managed to complete two new frames today which I'm very pleased with! I was inspired by the Buddleja in my garden which is surrounded by butterflies at the moment and so pretty! And I had to do a Union Jack In honour of new baby Prince George! They can be bought here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171095158147?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

Annie sloan in the house

This year was a big year for me and the oh because we bought our first house! The house dates back to 1870 and although there isn't anything major to do to the house there are certain things that will cost money that we have planned. So, in order to save money I decided to up cycle some of our furniture using annie sloan chalk paint. I LOVE this paint! You don't have to sand or prime your item even on varnished surfaces. This is a dresser that I bought for £60 on eBay.
Before
After
The table is also painted in annie sloan Paris grey but I lost my before photos. The table was waxed with the annie sloan wax but I found it difficult to get an even result which would be fine for some projects but not what I wanted for these pieces. So with the dresser I varnished it with a clear matt varnish and I think it works really well.
